Jonathan Walderns was an amazing young man and will be remembered for many things. Today as we mourn the loss of Jonathan, we should also remember the person that blessed each of our lives.
Jonathan was a husband, a son, a grandson, a brother, a nephew, an uncle, a cousin, a friend, and in a few months he was going to be a dad. This was wonderful, but the news was especially exciting to Jonathan who always put family first. Many of the things he loved doing, he loved because he did them with his family.
As a little boy Jonathan and his grandfather hunted for turtles, Jonathan's most favorite creature. He made spice cakes with his grandmother and climbed her magnolia tree with his cousins. Jonathan, his mother, and sister Jamie loved making pots of cheese dip and watching movies together. He and his brother Matt often explored the great outdoors and both grew up to become avid sportsmen. Jonathan loved everything that he did with his dad.
Jonathan was known for his big hugs; hugs that you could feel all the way in your toes. He loved to give hugs to his nieces Brianna, Nicole, Kristen and to his nephew Cameron. Jon was a big kid himself and didn't mind being their own personal jungle gym. On Brianna's last birthday he searched high and low to find the perfect gift for her. He gave Brianna a turtle hoping to share his love of them with her. He was Nicole's partner in the three legged race at a family gathering just one week ago today. Jonathan and Cameron shared a love of Dodge diesel trucks and hunting. One of Cameron's favorite things to do, was to do whatever Uncle Jon was doing. Kristen, Jonathan youngest niece, is a mirror image of him when he was a toddler and an exciting reminder that soon he would have a little one of his own.
We could always count on Jon to grin and make us laugh. He brought fun to our lives. He didn't hold grudges or let strife ruin relationships. His best friends Aaron, Shane, and Dustin know what a good friend Jonathan was. They can tell stories about Jon that will make your side hurt for days.
As said before, Jon loved turtles and found his soul mate when he met Amy, who also loves turtles. They were high school sweethearts and married last August. Amy made Jonathan's life complete. She was a great addition to his family and Jonathan was excited to be a part of hers. Amy and Jon were looking forward to starting their new family together and Jonathan was the happiest he's ever been since marrying Amy.
